I have an opportunity to do a Masters in September but the prospect of having to do a Thesis scares me and is putting me off the idea.
Is it really that bad and I'm just overthinking it?

    What's the masters in?

Unless you have a phobia against hard work, a thesis isn't that scary.

Ask yourself why you want to do the course.

Are you just doing it for the sake of it, or is it something you are genuinely interest in?

If it's the latter, then the thesis won't be that big a deal at all and, if you're prepared to put the work in (which is more likely if you're genuinely interested and motivated), you'll get through it without too much trouble.

I'm doing it to enhance my employability and have identified this as a suitable area.

To be honest, I'm really not sure a Masters is the best way to go about "enhancing employability". It's a big investment of time and money and I'm really not convinced that it pays off all that often. Bear in mind that masters courses are often big money-makers for third level institutions.

That's just my opinion though - others may tell you otherwise.

I think it really depends on how passionate you are about the subject and how interesting you find it.

I found my thesis (in English) to be pretty alright, but I'm guessing I wouldn't have found it so if I wasn't mad about the topic.

Currently doing my Finance Masters thesis. Mine is sponsored so I didn't get to choose the topic, so I be finding it term long winded and boring. However, I did a detailed research paper throughout the year on a chosen topic and put my heart and soul into it. It was a lot of work, but that is obviously expected, but it wasn't bad and I was happy to do it.

For the thesis I think you need to be passionate about or at least have an active interest in your thesis topic. You'll spend quite alot of time sifting through irrelevant data etc before you find something you can use.
