Did you spray weeds before you cut back everything?

If not you'll have to wait for regrowth to spray them...

Use a glyphosate weedkiller to kill all or a selective to just kill weeds.

    Quickest and cheapest

let it grow back, you might be lucky and most of those weeds will be controlled by cutting repeatedly.

you might need to reseed patches of the lawn.

once it regrows watch for weeds and take some photos and we can advise further

Unless u want a "perfect" lawn

Ok but the weeds can't be killed without letting them grow up.

Just keep it mowed so and hope for the best...

As the others have said, leave it for a few days then mow again on highest cut, repeat, just keep cutting, hopefully you will be able to bring it down to a lower cut as the weeds are discouraged, but chances are you will just have a green patch, which may be good enough, rather than a lawn. I agree you can't do selective weed-killing unless the weeds have enough leaf to take up the weed killer.

    1) Cut the grass at it's lowest setting.
    2) Rake the garden well to loosen the soil
    3) Throw some fresh grass seed down(not out of a box)
    4) Walk on the seed to give it a good contact with the soil
    5) Water well every evening if it hasn't rained
    6) Don't cut the grass until the seed has grown to at least 10cm
    7) Cut the grass on it's highest setting every 7 days or less, the grass being this long will crowd out the weeds and this will also thicken the grass so it is strong.

After three or four cuts you can reduce the blade to the height you want and you shouldn't have too many weeds left, I always cut on the highest and you have very few weeds or moss to worry about with the first cut of the year.

buy a 1 litre bottle of dicophar, spray the lawn. kill the weeds. apply lawn sand mixed with seed and lawn should be an improvement in the next 6 weeks or less.
