What AM3+ processor should I get for my requirements?

I'm building a computer that won't be used for high performance anything - I have the motherboard already and I want to get something decent although I'll only be using firefox, notepad ++, age of empires II and the like

Up to 2 or 3 VM's - with limited resources required on either....one vm will just be terminal work in Linux....one of the others will be a stripped down version of linux designed for browsing the net.

Windows 7 for playing age of empires....I'll be running windows 10 as the host OS.

A 4300 is probably loads, I used one in my build for years no issue

That 965 johnny posted would be a good job too, one of my friends has one he's running no bother. You can't sell here, you can throw it up on adverts and link it in the Sales thread though, good luck with the sale

Depends on how much benefit your VMs would get from extra cores being available.

The Fx4100 only costs about 40-50 euro second hand, just get that. Your uses aren't going to push the CPU at all.
