New Tyres

    Hi, I imported a Hilux from UK a few years back. I need two new tyres. It takes 255/65 R16s. They are not popular here. Take a while to get and are expensive.

    My tyre guy has suggested fitting 245/70 R16s. A lot cheaper and readily available.

    Looking at this http://tire-size-conversion.com/tire-size-comparison/ there's not a huge difference.

    Are there any issues that I need to know?

    Will I still be legal with two 255/65s and two 245/70s?

    Will the jeep still pass the DOE with two different size tyres?

    It should be no bother get that size, if you want to stay loyal to your tyre fitter you could buy two from Germany ebay shops. Even with shipping they work out far cheaper than here, 3-5 day wait.

    What drivetrain has the Hilux got? some of them are fulltime 4wd and if you mix tyre sizes you will do damage to the diff.
    Even the difference between a part worn and a new tyre of the same kind can be detrimental.
    I'd buy 4 the same TBH. and rotate them.
