Higher Level _ Thought the paper was okay I guess. The media studies was easy enough as was the functional. The essay I prepared hopefully fitted in to the title. The comprehension was ok I made my best attempt bring on paper 2!!

I'm an exam attendant and got to see the HL papers afterwards - They both looked fairly horrible to me, definitely worse than last year

Paper one I did the essay on skills I had developed, the report to the school principal and question one of media studies. Overall wasn't too bad IMO.

Paper 2 again, not that bad. The two poems for the unseen was a bit surprising but they were relatively easy anyway. Hoping for at least a B in english come September 9th :)

    *Paper 1*
    -Comprehension was decent.
    -The speech was slightly difficult.
    -The report was AMAZING.
-Media studies was ok, I thought the last question from the second one was pretty nice.

    *Paper 2*
-Unseen drama was fine and prepared drama was fine too but it was slightly awkward to answer on.
-Unseen poetry was amazing actually and so was prepared poetry.
-Unseen fiction was pretty nice to answer on and the prepared fiction was OK too I think.

Hopefully I got either an A or a B but most likely B.

I was kind of hoping for an A after paper 1, but I feel like I might have bombed the seen poetry and seen drama hahaha. Jaysus that was horrible.

For personal writing I did a speech against the motion
What points did you all raise to back up your speech?😉

Fir personal writing i done a speech against the motion What points did all you raise to back up your speech?

I went for the motion. I talked about how studies have shown how people dont want to visit the moon because they find it boring, how most social networks ruin shows and matches etc.

It wasn't the nicest subject to talk about but I managed to get lots of the persuasive techniques in and the arguments themselves were fine too.

What did you say since you were going against the motion?

I was hoping for a good speech title, sadly there wasn't... so i had to do Q2, tremendous silence, i wrote about the tremendous silence in the exam hall, it was pure ****e. i had time left at the end and did Q6, can't remember the exact title but i wrote about how the junior cert system was wrong and caused too much stress.

I liked the poems on paper two, and usually i dont... i think it was a good well rounded paper, the personal writing didn't suit me this year... but like i said in my essay.. it's probably about a fifty-fifty chance, you might get a paper that suits, you might not. this leaves smart people with low grades and average people with high grades, the grade doesn't show the level that the person is at...

so don't worry if you think you did terrible, and don't be too happy about doing well... it means nothing. now go study and get off the computer!

Paper 1 was good, except for personal writing. I did the article about rules for being a teenager, and wrote the whole thing completely sarcastic, oops. The rest was fine though, functional writing report was wonderful!

On the other hand, I think I nearly stabbed someone about five times during the course of Paper 2. Studied drama was a nightmare and I couldn't remember one quote for poetry. The unseen stuff and fiction was nice though. Hopefully the Irish papers tomorrow are nicer. I think I'll cry if I can't fit an accident into eachtra a tharla.

The report was so good I can't agree with you more. Everyone I know did the instructions for some reason so I was confused initially.

Thought paper 1 was easy enough. Did the report, a tremendous silence and the Rotten Tomatoes media study. Didn't do great on paper 2. Drama was okay but don't think I did well on the poem or fiction. Higher level.

HL Paper 1 I chose the debate option. I wrote for the motion The world is dull and no longer had mystery. I found this title to be quite unfair in comparison to previous years. Still wrote 4.5 pages though, so...
Paper 2: Nothing unexpected. I did shakesperean drama, and the questions gave room for alot of person opinions. I had read the book theif before the exam so that was grand. I feel the section I did worst on was studied poetry. The poem that I concentrated on, An Irish Airman, was not reallt suited to either q. Im kicking muself that I didnt revise blackberry picking.

I am usually quite good at speeches, this years topic threw me a bit I wrote about

How much of a mystery space is to us and how we know so little about our own ocean and the creatures down there
HOW musterys from the past are well still mysterys that are all unsolved
Also about cures for diseases such as cancer How this would be a mystery

No you won't lose many marks.
Don't worry, they want you to do well in the Junior.

I though that Paper 1 was fairly ok. The comprehension was fairly easy and the functional writing was simple. I found the media studies tricky but I think I did fairly well. The title for the debate speech through me a bit when I read it at the start but I think I managed to write a fairly good one. I wrote against it saying how space, the animal world and geography were mysterious and how your own future and the future of humanity is uncertain.

Paper two on the other hand was difficult I thought. The seen drama questions were a bit funny, we had never prepared director/actor questions but I think my bull****ting was sufficient. The seen fiction was fairly accessible, I wrote about how Hope Springs Eternal was atmospheric and inspiring. The seen poetry on the other hand was terrible for me, I'm not strong on nature poems and I just went completely blank. I managed about a page of waffle so I think I will be marked down a lot. The unseen poetry was fairly handy though and the unseen drama was okay. I didn't get the last question on the seen fiction don't because of bad timing so I can only get half marks on that at best.

I was hoping for an A after paper 1 but my hopes have been deminished by a dreadful paper two. Hopefully Irish will be easier tomorrow!
