How do I quit a job I just started?

Alrite lads, just need a but of advice on how I should go about quitting a job I started only yesterday. It's a summer job and I'm working in telesales and after a day and a half, I know I absolutely hate it. I thought I could stick it out for the rest of the week but I really don't think I can.
How would I go about professionally resigning? I haven't signed a contract or anything so there's no notice period as far as I know. I don't really expect to get paid either for the days I worked because I made no sales anyway (even though it's not purely commission based)
    Any advice?
    Thanks
    Sahil

Just go in tomorrow, speak to the manager and say "Sorry, but I've realised his just isn't for me". And have a printed out lettter saying not much more than:
    Dear <managers name>

This is to confirm that I am resigning from my position with <company name> effective from today, <date>.

    Yours sincerely

Since it's telesales, I'd imagine you won't be the first nor the last to do so. And if you're not making sales, they'll be quick enough to fire you, too.

They'll likely ask you to leave straight away.

Thanks Mrs OBumble! I'll definitely do that so.

And if you're not making sales, they'll be quick enough to fire you, tool.

    That's a bit harsh.

I've worked in this area, so many people do one day and don't come back for the second. Don't worry about it follow the above advice and you'll be fine.

yea, do it in writing and be as professional as you can about it, "its not you, its me" - You dont want to burn any bridges needlessly :)

As mentioned already, this is very common in telesales, so the manager likely won't be particularly surprised. Writing the letter in advance will make it easier.

I manage a sales team, take it from me, your manager will appreciate your honesty if you quit tomorrow

Just thought I'd update the thread. So I did end up quitting last week, two days after I posted this and I did just as ye said. I wrote out a resignation letter and then had a little chat with the manager and explained to him that the job just wasn't for me. He was perfectly ok with me leaving so early (I guess it must happen often like one of ye said) and thanked me for my honesty and wished me the best of luck! It really wasn't as daunting as I thought it would be.

Anyway, thanks for the help lads. I appreciate it!

It happens fairly often in sales. They probably appreciates the honesty, better than you wasting weeks or months hating it and not delivering any results
