    Hi
I've some Fulcrum CEX 6.5s on my racing bike.
    Looking for an upgrade.
Budget of around 500 but don't need to go that high.
Are Zondas the way to go or?
    Thanks

compared to what you are running right now ....some difference there stiffness and really good hubs on them, and i might say bullet proof if you are a heavyish rider , they are weight wise like your wheels right now... bit heavy but once they get goin they hold that speed wheel.
This ones not a name brand but look it up they are very good wheels ive got couple of mates whose got them on their bikes

Would Zondas be much of an upgrade over Fulcrum CEX 6.5s?

At that price range, they're probably the best you'd find. And a bit lighter too.

I bought these last week, what a bargain. After 2 short spins I have no qualms in highly recommending them. Extremely solid and as you pedal you get a sense of extra speed. And they look pretty cool which is no bad thing.

    Wheels are due on Monday.

Will I need rim tape or does it come on them already?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,952 ✭✭✭funnights74

No rim tape needed, the design of the wheel has the spokes attached as to avoid this, checkout some reviews or you tube clips over the weekend it's all explained.

Fitted my new Zondas yesterday hopefully out on Sunday to test but for their current price/value they appear hard to beat. Will be an interesting comparison from my Mavic CXP33 on Campagnolo Chorus hubs.

Mine arrived this morning. They look great. Can't wait to get them on the bike.

So far I have the front wheel on, and have the tube and tyre on the rear, and the cassette hand tightened on. The cassette tool I ordered separately hasn't arrived yet so can't finish it off. Should have bought new tyres as the set I have (only about 7-800km on them) look grubby on the shiney new wheels.

The wheels roll really well. Took them out for a quick 10k to test them out

Really responsive in the bends. And they accelerate really well. Looking forward to taking them on a longer spin tomorrow night

They feel much tighter than my old wheels but that's to be expected I suppose, quite shocked how quiet the rear is freerolling. I will be giving them a blast from Tallaght to Wexford this weekend so will update more then.

So far I'm glad I went the extra over the Scirocco's just from an appearance and weight perspective alone as my set up is in or around 21.5 pounds.

So...went for 102k yesterday on the new wheels and the difference was a s stark as night and day! Y'know when people say they roll forever well they really do feel like that, effortless and efficient.

I decided to put a 100psi in the back and 90 in the front in or around what I would normally run. They are no less compliant than the cxps but certainly 'feel' better when out of the saddle and very capable.

Nevertheless as this was the first real spin on them I took it handy on the descents but they never felt anything other than sure footed and responsive. Any gripes? Well the only complaint I have is that the front wheel seemed noisier over rough roads but I have yet to find the cause.

Am I glad I bought them? Without hesitation, they are impressive but I do wonder what the cheaper Campagnolo offerings are like in comparison perhaps someone can add to this?
