    Hi there,
    Advice needed please:

Basically want a good, reliable, economical car for me to drive to work. Also, will be used at weekends with the 2 kids. Driving 25000 Kms pa so looking for a diesel) But i've heard that there's some economical petrol out there also. I’m thinking of a 08 because of the lower tax and my budget is about 8,000 max.

    What's the following cars like?
2007 Honda Civic 1.3L Hybrid, Wexford

Also, another few that I goggled on Calzone that are added in the last 7 days.
2008 AUDI A4 2.0 Diesel Estate (best looking car of the lot (POA)

2008 FORD FOCUS 1.6 TDCI 110 ZETEC DPF, €7,995 (not too excited by the focus really)

    PEUGEOT 207 €7,950 1.6 Diesel 2008 103,000 M / 165,762 KM

    2008 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 1.9 D TDI MATCH 103BHP 5DR €7995

    2008 MAZDA MAZDA6 2.0D TS 136BHP €7,450

Also, I’m thinking of the Skoda Octavia Petrol or Diesel or a Passat??

Thanks so much for your suggestions.

firstly do you have any interest in the way a car drives or is it just a means of getting from A to B

would you prefer a small car (easier to park) of a big spacious one (more interior room ie if you have tall people in the car )

have you any brand snobbery ( sorry please dont be offended but some people do ):)

Your not going to buy a genuine 2008 diesel Audi A4 for €8k so I'd forget about that. Also the other cars are from different segments, a Peugeot 207 is alot smaller than a Focus/Golf and in turn these are smaller than a Mazda 6. So you need to refine your criteria a little other than all of them being diesel and within budget.

Perhaps consider one of these too:

    Hi SpannerMonkey,
I'd be interested in a comfortable car with a wee bit of style. Also, economic and reliable is a big factor.

    Hi bazz26,
Yes looked at those cars and they both look good. Hard to know which one to go for. Which of those two would be the most reliable and economic do you think?

We have a toyota verso at the moment and it's so expensive on the petrol so definitely thinking of going for diesel now.

Thanks so much for your help.

You really need to start test driving a few cars to see which one you like the most. Both of those should be reliable enough as any modern diesel car is.

I'd go for the Audi A4 diesel estate
