Only heard a couple of days ago that they began production. Other news is that Shredder actually looks normal in this one, and is played by Brian Tee (D.K from F&F Tokyo Drift)

Bebop and Rocksteady also appear to be confirmed as well, played by Gary Anthony Williams and *gulp* Sheamus, respectively.

Megan Fox is still appearing as April in this one.

    Other characters that look set to appear are;

Casey Jones, played by Stephen Amell (Arrow)
Baxter Stockman, played by Tyler Perry

Not expecting this to be much better than the first one, but it can't be worse than it, surely?

Wait, so they've completely changed Shredder. Different actor. No robo-nonsense?

... why do I even care. The first one was cr*p with the exception of a few fun action sequences.

Watched the first one the other. It was terrible - with everything you'd expect from Bay.

This sounds as though it'll be a reboot?

    Edit. Doesn't look like it.

William Ficthner is back and Laura Linney joins the cast - which seems strange to me.

I can't even remember what happened at the end of the last one, just a load of incoherent rooftop CGI nonsense.

I must be in the minority that enjoyed the 1st one and i hated the idea of Bay being anywhere near it

I enjoyed it too, probably because I had really low expectations going in to it. It was much better than it had any right to be given those involved.

I enjoyed the first, not great but enjoyable, let's hope this isnt Transformers 2 to Transformers.

    Trailer out. Looks kinda fun.

Have high hopes for this they seem to have fixed alot of what was wrong with the last one bar Megan Fox

and Bebop and Rocksteady look straight out of the old animated series

That trailer! You can spot a Bay film from a mile away. All the tropes are there. Explosions. Out of place humour. Tanned T&A. Action scenes with ten million particle effects. And above all, everything in every scene looks slick and wet. :P They may have changed the man at the helm but thats screams Michael Bay.

I'm sure it will be good fun though.

Didn't mind Megan fox, and the only annoyance I had was
splinter learning and then teaching from a book and the bullet proof thing which would have been fine if it was just their shell but not the whole flexing their pecks

The first one was good I thought, But very Bay-ish.

I thought is the turtles are that big, how do they fit in the sewers!!

One thing, in the last one Raph was by far the biggest Turtle. Now him and Leo look nearly same size!

I enjoyed the first and with the addition of Bebop & Rocksteady I think it's going to be a, switch your brain off and watch blast.
Essentially the equivalent of a kid making a story up playing with the toys!

I loved Be Bop and Rocksteady as a kid, and when I saw the human versions I got excited. Looking at the CGI versions, MEH. Maybe they'll clean up for the film release but they look uninspiring, the turtles still look cool.

I like this franchise. Megan Fox is hot, and there's TMNT, and I'm excited.

I thought it was a big improvement over the original. There's some semblance of a story and character development while the action sequences are exactly what you'd expect.

have to agree . i loved it.

and im no fan of the turtles , more of a transformers fan meself, but by god i wish THOSE films had half the love going into them that this one did. i was just sitting there smiling at stuff like the techonodromes "eye" and the garbage truck that fires manhole covers

tonally it was right out of the cartoon with a good helping of mush in relation to the bond between the turtles which actually come off as individual characters in this one.

i know some have been complaining about the continual introductions to who's who but as only a casual aquaintance of the universe i was happy with that as i really couldnt tell you who's raphael and who's leonardo and with SO much time being devoted to actually focusing ON the turtles (learn a bleeding lesson here Bay ! ) it was necessary IMO.

this is probably the most ive been surprised by a movie in ages. its not gonna change the world but its a damn good action flick with good one liners and decent action sequences.

7/10 from me. i reckon fans will be delighted and i can see dads taking their kids to see it having a blast. hell for some reason i kept getting a "ghostbusters" vibe off it which is no mean compliment.

and that theme tune at the end with the animation. that was just pure joy.

    :D

I can't understand the negative criticism it's getting - are people expecting it to be on the same level as Captain America: Civil War or The Dark Knight or something?

As a fan of the 90s cartoon, it was a joy to watch - a million times better than the last one, which I didn't like very much at all.

Glad to hear it's an improvement on the last one, the only scene of merit in that that in any way captured the Turtles properly for me was the beat boxing in the elevator, the rest of it was a crap remake of Amazing Spiderman as far as I could see.

Saw this last night, thought it was terrific. A really fun movie, walked in with low expectations and walked out with a smile on my face

Only saw this recently. Yep it was good.

It didn't oversell. In some ways I think it felt like overdelivered a bit on what was promised.

It felt closer to the cartoon I grew up with. The cast were strong. The story was a turtles story I knew and felt like was following from the cartoon just with extra added Michael Bay stuff :) which felt like it worked here. Like.. he overdid it with Transformers but this didn't feel like it was going too flashey.

I didn't really see any negative stuff in the press about the film. If anything, It just seemed to fade by.

China gave it over $50m: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=tmnt2016.htm

Looking at when it released has me thinking it tried to squeez in with too many others:

I've read that Finding Dory is really good and at the other side it was in against the tail end of X-Men and Captain America Civil War.

Fun definitely sounds like what summed it up for me.

I'd say there'll be another. Hopefully it'll continue building :)

Just watched this and while I wasn't expecting much after the first one I still wasn't expecting it to be that bad.

Most of the attempts at humor fell really flat like the first movie. The only actual funny character from the first move was Vern. And Will Arnett had a smaller role in this one. Although even with the small role he still stands out as one of the best parts of the actual movie.

Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady did seem to be pretty close to the original cartoon characters in that they were over the top and stupid goofy and actually quite good but the Turtles and April are exactly like the first movie. Turtles try too hard to be "zany" and April just bland and boring. The doctor guy working for Shredder was strange. I think he tried to play it like a cartoon scientist but it just didn't work and he just looked like a really bad actor.

Casey Jones was what annoyed me the most though. They just rendered the character (which was one of the best from the original cartoon) completely redundant.

He's nothing like the actual character from the cartoon or previous movies. Instead of a hard edged angry new york vigilante beating up criminals with different sports bats and clubs he's a cop that wants to be a detective that just had a hockey stick and mask in his boot at one stage. I think the fact they used Megan Fox meant they couldn't actually cast someone to play the actual character because he had to be the love interest of Foxes young boring April. They would have been better off just leaving him out of the movie tbh.

All in all I'd say it's on the same level as the first. It's not a complete waste of time watching it if you're just looking for something to fill the time but save yourself the few quid and watch it on TV it's not worth going to the cinema for. Unless you're bringing kids. It's an ok kids movie.

Was never a fan of the TMNT as I was that bit too old when they first appeared back in the 80's, but my 5yo twins are obsessed with all things TMNT & after watching each episode of the new TV series at least a dozen times they finally decided they wanted to watch this, funnily enough we hadn't seen the first movie in this particular 'franchise' so came at this hoping it would hold the kids attention & not bore me to tears. I basically had limited expectations, which were low if i'm honest.
But I have to admit it wasn't bad at all, far from perfect (Megan Fox is truly awful in it for example) but the kids loved it & it held my attention where the majority of recent superhero films have failed to atain even that.
If they make another one no doubt I'll be dragged to the cinema to see it & TBH that won't bother me based on this showing.
