If it still has the original factory fill (some of them last up to 10 years) you should go to a Ford dealer and buy the original.

If you think the coolant has been changed at some time and haven't a clue what's in there, you should do a drain, flush and re-fill with new coolant.

There were some bad reactions when coolants were mixed in the past although I think that problem has now been designed out of them. Still it's better to be safe and not mix them.

Alternatively, there is a brand called Prestone on the market which claims to be safe for mixing with all coolants. This is just for your information and is not a recommendation.

How much do you need is it just a top up if it is just use water.
Just so you know you are due a timing belt and water pump change after eight years so would have coolant changed at that stage.

You should check to make sure you don't have a leak...

I'd be buying straight from ford and following the spec.

    This

If you don't know what's in there it's time to change all of it anyway.

Haynes manual advises that if pink/red Ford antifreeze is used it can be left indefinitely (advises to check strength every year). If any other antifreeze is used it's recommended to renew every two years.
