    Hi

Flying to Havana via Canada and decided to stay a few days rather than go straight through.

Was told(by agent I wont name) that there is an extra Tax of €35 to stay these extra 2 days as now staying overnight. I have never heard of this before.I don't mind paying the difference in flights but tax to stay over rather than transit in Canada anyone ever hear of this?

    Cheers

You'd expect countries to incentivise you to stay and spend some money! It sounds like a departure tax that doesn't apply when transiting.

Hmmm doubt if it is a tax per se - it's more likely to be a fare difference. Ask for a breakdown of charges associated with your ticket.

Is it airport taxes. As I am no longer a "transit" passenger I have access to other airport facilities and immigration / check-in when arriving with my luggage

This the reason? Flying with Air Canada so may check with them

Don't Canadian airports have that Airport Improvement Tax or something? I'm sure I've seen something like that on my fare breakdown. Could be that?

I rang Air Canada to check and its a departure tax. Initial booking I was only transit but now that I am staying I have to pay this.

Bit of a rip off but hey only paying extra €100 to stay 2 days in Toronto with Friends:D
