Shoes

I went into a foot specialist today and she told me that it is normal for runners to feel tight on the sides. I have struggled to find shoes that have space at the width of the shoe. The ones I bought are really uncomfortable and I'm afraid I am going to cause damage to my feet. Wearing them also affects my mood.

So my question is should I continue to wear them even though they are tight at the sides?? I have tried stretching them but it makes no difference.
