Sucklers not showing signs of heat

Anyone else finding this a problem this year lads? Have a batch of 10 cows here and not a sign of action so far. Nothing changed in routine or circumstances from previous years but nothing doing.

Have a yearling bullock in for the past week to see if he can sniff anything out but nought so far. Have them in front of the house so pretty sure it's not a case of us not seeing it.

Any suggestions other than more grass?

Ya it's the weather, brother got a mare scanned and follicle was empty, it's too cold. Had you them housed due to bad weather?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

No they have been out since early on full time. Actually the only thing served is a heifer that was housed much later in a different group. Hope you're right on the weather, hoping to keep them quite tight and early but time is slipping on

Have you tried restricting suckling for the calves? Like, let them into cows twice a day. I'm running a few with the dairy herd and just let them into the cows while the milking machine is washing and let them off once the cow shows a heat.

Easier said than done if you are working off farm though.

The last cow bulled today, most of them are bulled weeks ago. I only saw one actually been bulled the other day for the first time. The new bull walked over done his job and walked away.

I was surprised as it's his first year and I was expecting him to burn himself out running after them for days but he knows better.

I know the others were bulled as Iv seen their tails curled up like a corkscrew after getting a belt off big red.

So I guess what I'm saying is people running bulls might have allot more bulled than they think.
