Is there a diagram on the inside of the fuse box?

Could you just disconnect the battery if it is isolation you're looking for?

I think you are looking for the fuel pump fuse .
If you remove the fuse and then start the car it will run for a bit and then cut out ( as the pump is not working ).
This means there will be little or no pressure in the fuel system when you disconnect the filter - so you won't have fuel spraying around the place .

Was working on a 2001 some time back and I think the fuel pump fuse was a 30A , F19.
There is also a fuel pump relay - on the 2001 it was No. 12 I think .
I have that info somewhere around if I can find it .
If the above doesn't apply in your case I will try to dig it out .
