Switching up my hairstyle!

Recently I've become bored of my usual hairstyle. I want to change up the cut and styling but I'm unsure what to go for. I like the Mohawk type style so that's a possibility. I don't like any wavey styles, I don't think they'd suit me. Any suggestions as to what I should go for?

    Reverse Mohawk. With serious sideburns.

Would you consider shaving it all off? (Proper shaving now, as in a wet-shave.) That's what I did; zero maintenance apart from running a blade/shaver across it once or twice a week.

And a nice bonus is women love it. Not all women, obviously, but I've lost count of the number of women who have approached me on nights out and asked if they could touch my head. That might not be a factor/incentive for you, depending on relationship status etc, but I can certainly think of worse reactions :-)

There's your answer. That's what you like. Do that.

Every second lad walking down the street has that haircut at the moment. Can't understand why so many people want to have the same style of cut.

The biggest thing I hate about hairstyles now is that most require hair gel, which I detest. It's so hard to find one that doesn't.

I got sick of spending €15 a pop and arsing around for a half an hour reading newspapers waiting for a haircut so a few months ago I went out and got a set of Wahl hair clippers on sale from Argos and now I cut my own hair. Number 8 blade (1 inch) on the back and sides and a a number 12 (had to buy this on amazon as they don't come standard) on the top with a nice side part. Number 7 on the sideburns, take the guard off and trim over the ears and the back of the neck. Job done and my hair has never looked better. Would highly recommend it. Bonus - the clippers set came with a cape so you can pretend to be a superhero if that takes your fancy :)

Edit, in case anyone is interested this is the one I went for and it has a nose trimmer thingy included. I followed the instructions included for a side part.

Is it a battle doing the back?

Not really to be honest. I usually feel where the hairline is and then use one hand to stop the clippers going too high. You only really have to be careful when you're trimming with the guard off. With the guard on, you cannot possibly trim any closer than it allows. So a number 8 will leave one inch of hair no matter how cack-handed you are. The big thing for me was buying the number 12 guard online, it lets me have my hair an inch and a half on the top which is perfect.

They way I look at it is, I was spending €15 a month at the hairdressers, so a total of €180 a year. The clippers cost me €26, so I'm saving €154 a year. That's a new pair of shoes and a nice meal out, or a few new shirts etc. If you have kids I would imagine that a clippers like that would save you a small fortune over the years.

Yeah i get what you mean, i've always been put off because of the back of the head i might try it out. In reality its not really for saving money but more so the time and effort of going to a barber.

Invest in a small mirror so you can stand in front of the bathroom mirror and see the back of your head clearly.

I just google'd people who had same could hair and glasses like me and looked at the different styles. It's only hair too so if you don't like what you get it'll grow out soon enough.
