Car Rental in France

I am looking to rent a car in France from late June to early July (10 days total). I am flying to Bordeaux with Ryanair and dropping off the car there again. Any recommendations or advice on car hire. I rented from a spurious website a few years ago in Spain and whilst the headline price was the cheapest I got stung with some clause on the fuel (cant remember the details but think I was charged a fee for them providing fuel even though I filled it again before returning???) so sticking with Hertz etc may have been cheaper.

My advice is to stick with the big main companies like Hertz. They may be dearer on paper but don't have hidden charges. Plus their terminals also tend to be closer to airport terminals whereas the smaller ones could be upto a mile away. Also get the full insurance. The peace of mind is worth it.
