I went to my local/home polling station to vote today but found that my name was not on the register. I did not receive a polling card but I think this may have happened before, I have not lived in the area for a number of years but have always voted there(inc the last General election) as its where I grew up and my mother still lives there. I havent emmigrated at any stage.
    Why would this happen?
I have just checked the Live Register of Electors but cannot find my details.

No, my brother who was in Austrailia until late last year was still on it. I think I'll ring on Monday to find out.

A couple of years after my parents split up and my dad moved out polling cards stopped arriving for my dad. He wasn't a good voter and didn't re-register at his new address and afaik my mother didn't make any changes.

My missus sister somehow dropped off the register in the last few years too.

Then you aren't entitled to be registered there.
