Any recommendations for christening venue in Laois? Preferably Portlaoise? Hoping for a dinner but not pushed on a "pub" venue

If you don't want a pub, not sure whether you'd consider The Killeshin hotel?
It has a restaurant and also the upstairs section in main part of hotel which can be reserved for special occasions.

Depends on the numbers going really. My first set of twins' Christening was upstairs in Leithean. There were probably 40 or so there and we got delicious platters from the deli a few doors down (can't remember the name of it now). It was perfect but for the fact it was upstairs so getting buggies up was a pain. Which is why we went to the Killeshin hotel for our second set of twins' Christening. There were probably 50-60 or so at this one including kids and the food was done by the hotel and was delicious. We used the downstairs function room because of the numbers. They showed us the room above the restaurant which was lovely but would probably only suit 20-30 people so was no good for us.

I've also been to one in the heritage that sounds like it was in the same room princemuzzy mentions above and that was very nice too.
