Running Combi Box & OpenBox at same time

Hi, I have a Combi box which works perfectly and I am able to view Saorview & FTA channels, I have recently purchased an open box and rather than me having to take out the cables all the time for the aerial is it possible for me to buy a 4 way tv/sat combiner so I could run the leads from the aerial through the TV/Sat combiner for both my Combi box & the Openbox. This way All I would need to do is change the AV Channel to view the other box, rather than have to take out the aerial from 1 box and put it in the back of the other?

Any help would be appreciated. As you can most probable tell I am a novice at this.

Also if it is possible, anyone have any idea where I can get them from?

    Thanks again

You can split the aerial feed but not the satellite one.A simple Y splitter or one that uses f connectors which would be better. They can be gotten in the likes of Woodies or most hardware shops.

Sorry I am a complete novice when it comes to TV's, so what you are saying I can do it but would need a Y splitter and then I can connect the 2 boxes up at the same time? Is this correct?

    Thanks

Yes you can have the two boxes going at the same time but only for the terrestrial end of it ie: the Saorview end of it.

I doubt the Openbox has a terrestrial tuner, & the sensible way to run satellite tuners is with a separate feed cable from the LNB on the dish (or other distribution point) for each one, as each cable also carries switching signals from the tuner, to the LNB on the dish (or wherever the signal is distributed from).

    Which combo box have you?
Some of the ferguson ariva combo receivers (and maybe other receivers also) have a loop through/out on the satellite tuner.
If it is this type of receiver/tuner, you could run a cable from this output into your openbox and use the satellite feed from the ariva (only when the ariva is not in use/on standby or powered down though)
This will save you connecting and disconnecting all the time.
The best option though would be to take Thurston's advise and run a separate satellite feed for the openbox.
