Full time work to STEA - skip the JSB part?

I've just been informed that I will not be kept on at the end of my 6 month contract (finish date the 29th May or 5th of June - undecided yet). I'm not worried because I have great plans to take over the world as a Personal Trainer when I get my cert at the end of June. I just need some money to keep me going before that.

My question is do I go apply for the Short Term Enterprise Allowance straight away or do I have to apply for Job Seekers Benefit first? I want to get set up as self-employed asap. STEA form doesn't ask for any previous employment details which makes me think I need to apply for JSB first. However you have to specify what type of work you are looking for on the JSB form.

I've never claimed any social welfare before and have been employed full time for the last 4 years.

    Any advice much appreciated!:)

You have to apply for JSB and have it approved first and then apply for STEA.
