Information about electorate size

I've been looking for information on the size of the electorate (number of people registered to vote) for tomorrows referenda. I have found this Irish Times article on the matter but haven't found any official figures in government websites:

    http://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/nearly-66-000-new-voters-register-before-same-sex-vote-1.2217021

According to that article, the electorate size is 3,212,688. But I would like to be able to corroborate that figure. Also, I'm particularly interested in seeing the age proportions of the electorate, which should be possible to obtain since the elector register form asks for date of birth.

Can't see any indication that the information is published, you may have to contact the dept. of the environment: http://www.environ.ie/en/LocalGovernment/Voting/#Register of Electors

The CSO also do a quarterly household survey which asks questions about voter registration, so it might be possible to use that to get age profiles.

Due to the volume of registrations (and change of addresses, which actually are the main issue) done for the supplementary register I'd consider that figure to be somewhat distorted upwards. Two people in this house, four polling cards issued in two counties... Turnout will be impacted adversely by pretty much every person who submitted an RFA3.

Thanks for the pointers, guys. So it seems that contacting the Department of the Environment would be the way to go. Although the numbers might completely reflect the electorate age distribution 100% correctly.
