Petrol 7 seater? Advice please

Hi, I'm looking for advice on which is the best petrol seater to go for...Im sure this has been done to death but I'm desperate! I have a 2 lt diesel 07 Ford Galaxy which I got last year but it's been a nightmare since day 1. I've 4 small kids and do v low mileage (about 20/30 miles per wk at minute) and husband doesn't drive so the car gets used v little which is the main source of my problems, blocked dpf with engine cutting out 3 times now with newborn twins in back so now I just don't want to drive fit anymore. Garage did a forced regeneration on it and says it running 'like clockwork' but that I need to drive ca 40km a week at high speed scorching the engine etc to stop it happening again, but To be honest I can't be doing that with small kids so I a petrol would suit my low mileage better.
Id like an Smax cos its closest in size to Galaxy but none for sale at budget etc so I'm looking at mainly the Citroen grand Picasso or Mazda 5 but am concerned that the French cars have s bad reputation and the Mazda is a good bit smaller than Galaxy. Any advice would be really appreciated (other than telling husband to learn to drive!) thanks

You could keep what you have but it is crying to be driven more and needs to be driven on a motorway to give it a good clearing.

Try a Zafira also they do 1.6 petrol upwards.
Just get it all checked out before you buy.

You will find the petrol to have a lot less power but the driving you are doing isn't really going to matter.

Put yours up for sale yourself and get as much for it as possible then have the cash to get best deal on 2nd hand new motor.

Thanks for replies. Yeah I know I should probably keep it and drive it more but now I'm nervous it'll cut out again and i just can't get passed that....traded in a zafira for the Galaxy cos it's too small with 4 car seats n double buggy. Sorry now tho!

The reason it cut out is because its not getting a proper drive.

Diesel engines get clogged with low mileage including causing sensor problems, exhaust problems and filters.

I would recommend giving it a good spin on a motorway at least once a week and get the revs up good.

If you keep driving the 30 or 40 tops a week it will cost you a fortune.

Not sure what your budget is OP but have you considered a 2,0 petrol s-max? Can't post links but there are a couple of 07/08 ones on donedeal and carzone if you take a look.

Get a DPF removal done and keep it.
