I'm sure this has probably been asked so many times on the forum so apologies in advance.

I am on the road to getting my drivers licence and although not purchasing a car yet I am looking about for a car that would ideally suit what I would need it for. I am looking for suggestions on the type and model car you think would be ideal.

    Needs:
    - 4 doors and a reasonably large sized boot as I do a lot of outdoor activities
    - ability to attach a roof rack
    - low road tax/ low emissions
    - relatively easy and low cost to maintain

Hopefully you all have some helpful suggestions, if you require any further information let me know

budget would be anywhere from 900 to 2000 euro but right now just seeking ideas on the best possible type of car to get

    Thanks

A skoda octavia would be a good choice as it's quite big in the back.
Focus 1.6 estate are good too.
Corolla estate 1.6 from 2002 are rare but a very good car.
Suzuki liana 5 door not very sought after second hand but they're cheap and reliable

Honda Jazz if you can find one for the cash . With the seats folded flat it's basically a very practical and economical van with windows.

I would not concern yourself too much with low emissions. On your budget you will not be looking at any cars on the new tax system anyway.

Was thinking about a Skoda Fabia but it would be easier to get an Octavia on that budget if you're comfortable driving it. Nice reliable engines too and might be easy on the insurance.
