I know the recommended time for AI is 10-12 hrs after first signs of heat but just wondering how long after first standing heat would ye guys chance a straw on a cow. Cow seen in heat Monday pm got away from me this morning so would ye chance her Wed am or leave her go and inject with Prostaglandin and if so when should I inject?

not too well up on injecting but I'd say you missed the boat this time, sure she's still early enough for next year in 3weeks time

Stick a straw in her Wed morning and when she repeats in three weeks don't let her escape on you.

If you didn't breed then I would prostaglandin her 5-6 days after the heat you observed. By then she should have formed a CL which is necessary to respond to PG. You will have to observe for heat, should be in within 2-5 days after the shot of PG. Let us know what you end up doing.

inject within 5 days after seen on heat and she'll come bulling 2-5 days after. 11 days would be mid cycle and she'll have to get a second injection.

Thanks guys. I stuck a Straw in her and will let her take her chances. And yeah double checked it with vet, 5 days after heat is the time to go in with prostaglandin to bring her back. Not that I ever doubted ye or anything...
