SOME TRAIN SERVICES have been suspended on the northside of Dublin after a suspect device was found close to the DART line between Howth Junction and Kilbarrack stations.

Gardaí confirmed the device was found shortly before lunchtime, at Redmond’s Court – 0ff the main Kilbarrack Road.

An Army bomb squad is at the scene, the Defence Forces have confirmed – and the area has been sealed off.

A group of workmen discovered the device and raised the alarm.

I live 20 metres from this. Watching it from saftey of my front window for last 2 hours. device found in the bank along howth junction cottages. Bomb squad came, made it safe, no word whether it was viable or not. Mentions of a shiny metal with wires.

Strange find. Its a quiet road. I know kilbarrack gets some stick but nothing like this in a long time. Seems like someone disposed of something maybe. Cant see any reason why anyone on the road or the train line would be targetted.

And just to clarify, it was found at howth junction cottages, not near the redmonds court end. There's a part of the bank where theres bushes and trees, it was found there. It wasn't confirmed if it was viable or not.

Also, irish rail workers have been working in fitting a new gate in the railings overnight, so 99% the device ended up there this morning, as it wasnt buried in the ground. Which is another weird thing, as there'd be kids and workers going by all morning.

Turns out that the device was not viable. Was keeping an eye on IE's Twitter account today. There were people blaming them for the disruption. Wtf like??? Would they rather people get hurt. Better to be safe than sorry.

Was it a hoax or a false alarm?

Didn't really say. Just said the device wasn't viable thankfully.
