I'd suggest using corri pipe. Far easier to handle.

I think piping watercourses is similar to removing ditches, that is you have to apply to the dept and get it approved first, could be wrong but check with your adviser first

The brown isn't as strong as the black, have seen it collapse first hand but it was fairly shallow. Having said that if its two feet plus in the ground I'd say it be okay.

If it is a drain you can pipe it. Definition of a drain as opposed to a water course is that a drain will go dry. For it to be a water course it must have water in it at least 9 months of the year( I think). Last time I bought the black corri I think I paid about 75 for a lenght of 12". Even if it was 3 or 4 times the price I used corri as opposed to concrete pipes. Disadvantage of conc pipes is that they wil break with traffic over them unless they are well buried. Even then one can crack and you have to replace.

The other thing is to make sure pipe's are big enough to take flow of water.

Hmm.. is there an easy way to figure the flow?

We have a ditch which runs in the wet... what we used to call a winter well growing up, and I want to put a paddock entrance across it, only need to cross with the cows and the quad, perhaps the odd tractor in the drier months.

Whats the best way to set the corri pipe in? cover with shingle? and how would I know if 12" is likely to be enough?
