Decommissioning an Irish car in Northern Ireland

The clutch went on our Southern registered car while on a trip to Antrim at the weekend. The tow truck guy got it examined today and said it'd likely cost £340 to get it fixed. I don't think the car is worth that so I'm happy enough to let him scrap it.
Is there anything wrong with letting him scrap it? Do I need to fill anything in?

The rules at http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/travel_and_recreation/motoring_1/buying_or_selling_a_vehicle/how_to_dispose_of_an_end_of_life_vehicle.html seem quite strict. I'd ring the number on this page to get more info.

During scrapping you get a certificate of destruction and Shannon gets notified. I doubt a NI cert will do, but as suggested, give Shannon a ring.

surely "selling" the car to the tow truck lad by changing the vlc will suffice.

I've scrapped many cars in the north. The chassis number sufficies and your book is handed in. You get a cert and shannon is notified. You keep the cert. No problems.

People are often discouraged for whatever reasons for scrapping cars in NI
