    Hi guys
I done a nice 60k around howth last week which I really enjoyed.all recorded on my edge 800 which I then uploaded to garmin and strava.last night I downloaded the route from garmin to do again as I had forgot which hills I'd climbed when.when I selected the course I had downloaded all I got was what looked like a road with a little white kind of arrow..no street names, turns, direction or warnings for up coming turns.anyone know what's up there.pretty sure I downloaded a route from ride with gps a while ago and it had everything on it.

Did you download the TCX or GPX file?

    "
The Garmin Edge 800/810/1000 will accept either TCX or GPX files.
GPX files are best if you have base maps installed because it will display both a styled map and text-based directions.
TCX files are best when you don't have base maps installed."

If you do a route and upload it to Garmin connect, you can then save this ride as a course and send it back to your device. This will then be in the course folder. Remember to press start before you head off or it will not follow the course. I also think on the 800 you might have to turn on the turn by turn directions (can't remember now). This gives a beep or similar before each turn, as well as a prompt on the screen
