Live coverage has started, splits all over the shop already, could be a cracker.

That bloke destroyed his motorbike, I was wondering why they were cycling under the red flag.

Incredible how quickly the gap from the Contador group to the Uran group grew as soon as him and Aru had an agreement.

It's not really possible to comment on this race any more without the risk of cards.

Astana have some climbing talent in their ranks, even without Nibali.
Thought Micheal Rogers had a great ride today.

Remarkable performance from Astana today. Reminded me of the Sky train at their best or indeed US Postal. Total dominance.

Just read the week's review on INRG site. http://inrng.com/2015/05/giro-week-one-review/ He writes:

"What should have been an introductory week to ease riders into the race with some skirmishing for the maglia rosa nd stage wins has been open war between Astana and Tinkoff-Saxo as each team sought to take control of the race. It’s been impressive but hasn’t achieved that much, a lot of calories consumed for little measurable gains. Astana look the stronger outfit, they’re more explosive. This has been raising a few eyebrows but it’s been predictable on paper given Tinkoff-Saxo’s ageing diesels can deliver steady riding but not the explosive uphill attacks. If you’re suspicious and like to judge this kind of thing by television at least wait for the third week to see if they can keep it up before reaching a verdict."

Rogers looked knackered and was a bit downbeat in the post race interview (still on bike), considering their performance.

Sky are keeping the powder dry, could be a very good strategy indeed

Jaysus lads, you're all very easily impressed. Astana have won one stage and Aru is 2nd on GC, hardly dominance US Postal style.

Let's see how they are in another 2 weeks.

    they/them/theirs

Indeed, one wonders if Le Tour has already started.

Very little attention given to the Giro. They should have informed the viewing public well in advance. Just because it was over here only last year should not be an excuse not to show it each year.

I'm just wondering who should have informed the viewing public, and who you wanted to show it this year as opposed to last.

Ah yes now I get you. Well I would have thought a big build up would be presented in the media. Golf is giving big attention but the Giro is like What the hell. It vanishes from the news. I love cycling and I want to see more cycling shows on tv.

Eurosport covers it wall to wall. If you don't have it on tv, a subscription to their web player is well worth it.

Newstalk reported that the stage was today, shows what interest they have. Purely something to pad out a news report.

Well it should be just like the Tour de France it is as much a sport as any other.
