Hi all.I have an 06 SORENTO and one of the rear shocks had to be replaced because it was leaking and when going over bumps it would hit the bump stop and bottom out on one side.I put two new shocks in the back today but now its seems to be sitting too low and is bottoming out on both sides.Rang motor factors where I got shocks and they say they are the shocks listed for my jeep.Could the springs be the problem?thanks

Ride height will almost certainly be springs. The shocks won't control height, just react to a heavy bump with a damping effect. Springs can sag over time, especially if a bit of weight gets carried in the back.

Those cars have 2 type of shocks, standard shocks or ones with ride hight control. I don't know if one will fit other or not, but if yours have ride height control, I think the only place you can get them is a dealers.

If you have the ride height control and you change for normal shocks, you have to change the springs as well.

Correct, there are two types and 99% of the time it's the ride height control ones that are fitted. Your factor should have known this and fitting the wrong ones can make handling quiet dangerous.

Price from the main dealer for two shocks will exceed a grand probably in the region of 1,200 without fitting.

There is a company in Cork who supply a retrofit which involves fitting a different coilspring shock absorber combination.
