So out for a few pints this evening, 26 earning 30k a year, an okish wage for my age in Dublin. Back home and gone back to a friends house who is on welfare, its a council house. This is in Waterford where I'm from. A gorgeous 3 bedroom house, he has an S6, PS4. And a car(although a not very good car). He is living the life and says he has a holiday booked in summer with the missus. Im paying 600 for a studio in Dublin to have a bit of privacy. He has no job and seems to better off than me. Seriously pissed off.

Is he unemployed for long? Could he have bought the S6, Playstation and car from wages from his previous employment and used savings for the hollier?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,117 ✭✭✭✭Junkyard Tom

Tell us about the numerous unused €300 prams strewn about his council house grounds by the swimming pool.

Has he not got a 151 to go with it?
Clearly he is squandering the money if not.
Has he not got it down pat yet?
He's a sham OP, an utter sham.

    Sure, sure, yeah. Sure.

What is an S6 now, is it a phone or a car or something? Sure I wouldn't know about that sort of thing.

And come here caller, how long has he been unemployed?

They do all sorts of mad sh*t for extra cheese. Taking advantage of free medical stuff on their medical cards and selling it on is big business for these types. For example.

    Claim to be impotent....viagra
    Claim to give up ciggs...nicotine
    Claim to be stressed....vallum

I'm sure the list goes on and on...

I think you have misread you friends talents entirely.

He is obviously a financial whizz, the likes of which would put the "money men" to shame.

He can do all of that on a hundred and odd plus bob a week. Send him my way OP.
I really NEED to learn his skills in the "making your money stretch to impossible limits" advice

I wish to subscribe to his newsletter

I presume plenty of people will agree with me tomorrow. No shortage of funds they have.

Working with the USC charge, kindly feck off.

After rent, Broadband, phone, car payment I'm left with 1050 a month. Think the lad on welfare house bis on par.

I would like to start a petition for everyone to jack in their jobs come Monday and join in this hedonistic lifestyle that your pal is thriving at.

does he have broadband? 188*4.4 = 832 before any bills, and social housing tenants pay rent

So even still, without any of his deductions, you are winning

He could be gettin gifts of nice things, holiday from family/his GF...

I'd say it's possible to rent (with rent allowence) and run a car on the dole in Waterford, lived alright on just a grant (about €160 a week) while I was in college there. Didn't have car but didn't have any other benifts/income

€6690 a year, non adjacent top up 2008ish if ya divide it by the months spent in college/living in Waterford it was about €160 a week.

Stop hanging around with people with more material possessions than you. Befriend a homeless person and hang out with him in a shop doorway. Problem solved.
