    On a separate note I think it's a bit unfair even if it is welcome that the government announces this a week before a by election in a rural area where they are trailing...

    In fairness to the gov this has been headed up for a while. TBH I don't think it has anything to do with the voting. If it was it would be aimed to older farmers as they are more likely to vote no.

    That said been waiting for it to come up as it like to put up a shed for yearlings. Hopefully there will be enough in the kitty for that as I don't qualify for the 1st round as I've been farm since 06.

    howdy...i just see on agriland website they have a section 'do you qualify?' and one of the points is
    Meet the requirements of set-up for the first time within five years of the date of receipt of an application under this Scheme;

    I got my herd No at the end of 2009... am i snookered???

    I heard somewhere that the 40% grand will be for those <40 years old and commenced farming before 2008!....this would mean I'm outside that too...

    If your a young farmer but no green cert I guess you don't qualify?

    not sure about that,maybe like the BPS if you commit to doing it by Sept 2016 you might get in my be someone else might know more about it?

    I know the 60% has been announced for the farmers under 40, but has anything been announced re. The 40% grant fir farmers over 40?
