New Car Advice

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could offer some advice on this:

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/volkswagen-bora-1-4-75bhp-4dr/8961368?offset=5

My main concern is reliability and value for money. Has anyone experience of driving them? Alternatively, can anyone offer suggestions of something similar? I'm looking to get a saloon. Tired of the hatchback. Budget is €4k.

I also like the look of the Fabia and Octavia.

    Thanks!

I'd go for the Avensis. But from looking at Done Deal, the add is over a month old. 37 days to be precise. This would make wary of the condition of the car. However. I would stick with the idea of an Avensis and get a really good one as there are plenty out there that you would be able to keep for another ten to fifteen years even if it was ten to twelve years old as Toyotas just keep on going.

Thanks for the replies. The Avensis is a bit more than I can afford, unfortunately.

I've had a look on Done Deal, and you can get the mark 2 Avensis in your price range. I looked at ones made between 2003 and 2006 and there are thirteen pages of them in your price range. You might be able to haggle ones that are for sale for a little over 3000 down to 3000 or little bit less. But be careful because some of them could troublesome bangers, and ex taxi's. You might be better off to get one through a dealer. The mark 2 came out in 2003.

That particular car is being sold by a garage so I'd say that asking price would not be written in stone. Buying it close to your €4k budget probably would not be unrealistic. Anyway it was only an example of what else you can buy.
