How to approach recruitment agencies

    Hello all!

First post in this part of Boards, so apologies if this has been covered before (I did have a quick look)

Just finished my 4 year degree and looking to use a recruitment agency to get some work but I'm not really sure how to approach it. Should I apply for a job specifically on their website as a way to open communication or send them a more general email?

Any advice appreciated as I'm new to all this!

    Thanks

Yes I would wait until you see a job that interests you and get the ball rolling that way.

Dont, try and search direct by finding a company you want to work for, the find out the hiring managers and approach

Most agencies are a waste of time and if you have no experience wont look at you

Agencies can be good if you work with the right ones.

Try find an agency that specialises in your field and speak to them.
A good recruiter will know the market and understand the roles your applying for.

You can try apply direct but sometimes agencies have jobs that aren't advertised directly on companies websites (exclusive agreements for example)

I agree to a certain extent. Agencies will say themselves that they don't routinely deal with entry level roles. And often when they do, the company will also e advertising directly, which is the way I always apply if possible but it isn't always.
