Insurance seems worse somehow

Finally passed my test and looking at all these insurance quotes I would have expected a lower rate not an increased rate. Is it just the online quotes are wrong, because the car is only a standard 1.4 golf and I'm over 25.

Insurance has gone up across the board over the last year. There's been a lot of threads about it on here. Best bet would be to ring around to brokers and companies and see what happens.
