    Hi

Was hoping someone here can help.

My 1390 ran out of brake fluid , and brakes stopped working.
I replaced fluid , and still not working.

How do I bleed brakes. Do I need to take off the wheels.? I cant seem to get at the brake unit , which I think is behind the wheels. . . . Or am I wrong

I tried bleeding it from just loosening the brake pipes just under the seat ( under the cab . ) . But that didn't work .

    Any ideas would be great

    Thanks

Yes you need to bleed them. You need a break bleed kit (they are only a couple of euro) or a second person.
You also need to find the bleed screw on each of the slave cylinders. You should not need to take the wheels off. I don't know this particular tractor, but assuming inbound disc breaks slave cylinders are probably underneath the axle on either side.

google or better still youtube, and look for break bleed procedure, its exactly the same for a tractor or a car.

You might also might want to look into why you ran out of break fluid. corroded break lines or leaking master or slave cylinders?

the brake slave cyls are slightly under and just in front of the axle from what I remember I think they are the same setup as a 990/5/6 q cab the bleed screws are on the cyls.i hope you put lhm fluid in when you replaced the brake fluid.

bleed screws are easy to get to from underneath,LHM is a hydraulic fluid that's used in the suspension in citroen cars, its used in a few makes of tractor including db as a clutch/brake fluid, dont use any other type of brake fluid as it will wreck the seals.

LHM is a mineral based oil.
DOT 4 is the most common type of break fluid and is vegetable based.
If you have used DOT4 in a system designed for LHM OR other mineral oil this is really bad for the seals as mentioned above.

Don't personally know which type is used in your DB but I have a number of Masseys and they are a mix of DOT4 and LHM. If it says use mineral based oil it is LHM
