    Hi,

I've been out of Ireland for almost 2 years now. I'm freelancing and working to fund my travelling. I'm using a freelance website to find clients and then money gets deposited into my Irish account every couple of weeks (or whenever I request payment).

I've been told that since I'm not in Ireland for more than 183 days then I'm not eligible to pay income tax however I just got one of those feelings that made me think that I should double check that to be safe. I'm going to call Revenue when I have a chance but in the interim I thought I'd post here and see if anyone has any input/in a similar situation to me.

    Any advice/input is appreciated :)

    Cheers!

    It is actually right,
You cant pay your taxes in Ireland since your not there for almost 2 years,
just pay your taxes where your having your income,
unless your an american citizen, your being taxed
    in your worldwide income.

The rule for residency is actually a little differerent.

A person is resident in Ireland if he spends more than 182 days in Ireland in any tax year, or he is resident in Ireland for a year if he spends a total of 280 days or more when adding the days of the previous year to the present year.

So if a person spends 150 days in Ireland every year then he will be resident here under the 280 day rule.

Thanks guys. Yeah I've been out of Ireland for about 600 days now (I've returned for a total of 5 days in that time) so I would not be resident.
