    Hi all.
I want to go to Cork in july for one night.
Afternoon of shopping then dinner out
I think il get train down so parking isn t an issue.

    So i want somewhere central.
Handy to the shops and restaurants.

Any ideas and recommendations for eating.
    Thanks

    The Metropole.
    The Imperial
    Isaac's
    River Lee Hotel
    The Clarion
    Jury's

All are located City Centre and very close to the shops.

River Lee Hotel would get my vote every time.

The Imperial would be quite handy, all the shopping streets are directly behind it

    Also the maldron is close.

All the listed are fairly central but the imperial is by far the most central, literally out the door and round the corner is slap bang in the city center.

I have heard very bad things about the Maldron has anyone stayed there

The Imperial Hotel is the most Central and a 1 to 2 minute walk to the shops (handy if you want to drop bags back to your room), the rooms are a bit old fashioned though.

The Clarion is another option. Also very near the shops (5 minutes walk at most). I haven't stayed there so cannot comment on the rooms.

I have guests that occasionally take a hotel room and from trying the imperial, maldron, river lee and isaacs they seem to have all preferred the latter. It's not too pricey and Tara's Tea Room right next to it as a breakfast option doesn't make it worse. ;)

Whats the latter one sorry.. The Maldron is it?

    ^^^ Isaac's I'd imagine.

I've stayed in the River Lee, Imperial and Metropole and they're all decent. Imperial is the handiest but you won't go wrong with those three.

Clarion is very nice and modern. Rooms are good. Usually entertainment and a good athmosphere in the bar late on Fridays and Saturdays.

Ah ok, heard good things about Issacs too.. Great stuff op well lots of options these, Cork is small enough like so you should have no problem.. Extortionate price for a glass of vino in the Clarion though so beware

Just be aware that if there is a gig in the marquee on the night you come that the hotels may be booked or very expensive!!

But enjoy the break - you deserve it!!! ;)

Sorry about that, I did indeed mean Isaacs. :)

Is that not the correct way to use "the latter"? Or is that not a thing? Non native English speaker here, just want to make sure I'll do better next time. :D

whats bad about it then, just out of curiosity really. I have heard some bad things, and even tried to get a job there once and they just don't reply to their ads.. was going to try and book a room in the haunted room

Looks all right, but I hate the location. The parking isn't brilliant, and neither is the food or the service which is rude and unfriendly.

But that's just my opinion! :)
