So after buying a passat estate 2002 b5.5. All the common faults ive repaired (temp coolant sensor, new drivers door lock, squeeky dashboard).
Now after the first heavy rains for a while ive discovered water in rear footwells (worst behind drivers side, its a LHD).
Ive checked the pollen filter seal and redone it. Ive also resealed the metal door cards (window motor).
Underneath ive noticed a rubber grommit type thing which is dripping. I would guess its some kind of drain, but wondering could this be where water is coming in as the one on the other side is covered with under sealant?

Drains are blocked , depending on the type of car they vary to how easy or difficult they are to get at. Your going to need to get it up on axel stands and have a good look underneath for the drain access , use a long wire to prod it through and unblock them.

You mean the drains under the battery? If so no sign of any water there.

    1. Follow the tube for windscreen washer fluid under the bonnet. There I a round seal. Check it. I had a similar problem and if the seal is gone there Is a huge hole.

    2. Check drain under the battery.
