    Hi,

I am recently finished college. I am on welfare and and am on rent allowance.. My college course relates to being a care assistant... I am currently hoping to get work as a personal care assistant or work in special needs summer camps...

My concern is that because these will only be temporary positions is it worth my while to take these jobs.... Some will pay 400/500 a week which is more than I get atm I know.... My main concern is that if I take these jobs I will give up the dole and rent allowance. To get back on the dole and rent allowance is a long process? I am renting as I said... I cant afford to be waiting for a while to get re registered to welfare and the rent allowance...

What do you want to ask, length of time to reactivate a claim?

    Hi,

    Thanks for reply

Yeah exactly.. I am just concerned that if I get a job that is only 1 month duration is it worth it? I will have welfare stopped and rent allowance stopped.. When my job finishes is one month, I will be stuck with nothing and have to go through all the process of re applying.. It can take a long time re applying.. I wouldnt be able to take that risk considering Nearly all my money goes on rent.

How long of a process will it take to re apply?

they can suspend you claim for X amount of time, knew someone who got a 4 week contract with a call center and this was extended to 6 weeks and then left go. he rang the office to tell them, it would be short term work and they suspended his claim and he just had to call into them when his contract ended and was was put straight back on JSA with being back in payments within 2 weeks,
