Some of the world's most influential international investors are quietly but surely slashing their exposure to Ireland.

People who make money from recovering economies are, for the first time since 2010, turning their backs on Ireland. Their names are a who's who of the world's most respected investors.

The flight of capital spans everything from Irish sovereign debt to property and banking.

This is a complete non story.

People who are paid to enhance the yield on a fund cash out in search of faster appreciating yields. If they didn't, they wouldn't be doing their jobs.

Also its possible irish property prices are at a peak now,
as the new 20 per cent deposit rules come in to force.
But i also think its a non story,
they are taking their profits ,and looking elsewhere for higher yields.

I think his subject line makes his point pretty well.

If you consider the detail in the link a "canary in the coal mine" its an embarrassing level of analysis.

The "star investors" mentioned are distressed debt flippers. They take punts and then exit when the punt pays off. Just because Ireland isnt returning "142%" growth is not indicative of a future problem looming.

Anybody who believes that this article tells them about a fore coming significant fall or danger to Irish property is, to put it mildly, foolhardy.

The lack of context is breathtaking in your post, bordering on the deluded.

The article explains how investors who are motivated by large yields and obtain them by gambling money (€3bn into Ukraine) are selling up because large yields dont exist anymore. Its not a passive fund run by Aviva getting out of a bubble market

most of those investors specialise in distressed assets , Ireland ( beit irish stocks , government debt or property ) is no longer a country of distressed assets

doesn't mean that property is about to fall , just means the big gains are in the past , we overshot the bottom when it came to all assets here around early 2011

But this is not profit taking by normal investors. You can't apply that theory to investors with the investment strategy that these guys have
