Hi. I have a bit of a strange problem. Hope someone can help

Basically there is a male family member currently incapacitated- as in, they are no longer able to look after or make decisions for themselves due to a bad accident.

Before the accident they were in a relationship. That ended badly and the lady just disappeared. I heard from an acquaintance that she went back to her own country. Now this same acquaintance has indicated to me the possibility that the lady may have had our relatives child and is back in the country. The acquaintance says she heard from a friend who was close to the lady in the past

How do we find out if the person actually had his child as we don't know how to contact them directly but don't even know if that's his child or not as the marriage was some years ago? The divorce was not finalised before his accident. I rang the births record people but I didn't get a clear answer but maybe I was too upset that day.

Should we even try as a family? He is in a bad way and we don't know how much longer hell last but his very elderly mum wants to meet her grandchild and he has assets we are not sure what to do with.

You should contact a Solicitor and seek professional advice as to how to find this Lady...

Contact the Registers Office again, again with the help of a Solicitor, as it's obvious from your post you found this process very upsetting...
Give the Solicitor all the information you have to date, there are assets involved and the child would be entitled to their share....
Am so sorry for you all, especially your Mum, with your relatives health deteriorating so quickly seek professional help asap....
Good luck with the search OP....

If the divorce isn't finalized the ex is possibly still his next of kin? First thing I'd be doing is having him made a ward of the court...
