Technically no. If caught you can get a fine (and I think penalty points). But a lot of people do it.

No, a learner driver must be accompanied by a driver who is qualified for two years or more. You must also display your plates front and back and you can't drive on the m50 until you pass your test.

    FYP.
Seriously, there's more to this country than Dublin and its surrounding areas.

You need to be accompanied by someone who has held a full licence for 2 years or more.

Most (I think that's a fair) people used to drive on their Provisional, later replaced with the learner permit. However there has been some recent changes in the law which mean that you can get a Fixed Penalty on the spot now. Previously you would have to go to court, and the guards were reticent to spend half a day doing that so you'd get let off more often than not.

Personally, although I used to drive on my provisional, I wouldn't now. The test isn't overly hard to do.

Spend sometime doing lessons and get someone to sit in with you.

Alternatively just use the instructor's car, you'll probably find it much cheaper vs insuring your own car anyway.

Presumably this is your first learner permit so you'll have to do the EDT before you can sit your driving test.
Tbh, I'm quite surprised you didn't know you couldn't drive unaccompanied considering the entire Section 2 of the Rules of The Road is dedicated to the subject but perhaps you haven't studied it yet.
