before you go making anything learn to master the art of Welding properly. It's not as easy as it looks Try working with different gauge metals. Then saw through some welds to see if there solid all the way through. Also bend them backwards and forwards until it breaks or doesn't break. the longer t takes to break the better your welding is.

Can you weld plate in the 4 basic positions?
    Flat.
    Vertical -Horizontal weld.
    Vertical -Vertical weld.
    Overhead.
    Tube

Then you move to tubing and the various positions.

Thing is with welding stuff is that there is a possibility of people being injured or killed if the weld fails on a structural item.

You could start by welding up a trolley for your welding plant plus gas bottle, if its not on wheels already. Be handy for lugging it around.

Lidl in Carlow had some welding kit last week,(May 7th) including some interesting, and exceptionally strong magnets for holding stuff for welding.
I put one in the trolley, beside my wife's bag with the wallet, the magnet cooked the mag strip on all her cards:)

Just a little tip, the magnet will play havoc
With arc welders if try to weld close to magnet
