    hi guys ,

the grandfather bought a farm back in the early seventies, the father doesnt have any info on it , the solicitor that did the sale has passed away , and his paperwork has gone where would i find a legal document to say when he bought it and and how much he paid ?

i have looked at landdirect.ie where i can get a folio for 40 euros as i have the folio number , but what will be on this one, i found an older folio for this property but no mention of dates it was bought and what was paid ? so i dont want to pay 40 euros for nothing and be waiting weeks . its friday evening now and everywhere is shut, and no one i can ring .

the accountant sent an email friday evening looking for this information ,something to do with indexation and sale of site to relation and cgt stuff .
i was hoping accountant could advise but no.

where is my first port of call monday morning

cheers and thanks for any info you could pass on .

You were looking at a certified copy folio and map for forty euros. You can get an ordinary copy folio for five euros.

That still doesn't give the purchase price. For that, ideally you would have a copy of the contract from the file, showing that purchase price.

However, that was probably a long time ago and you may not be able to get that contract.

If you can't get the contract, you can take up a copy instrument which will give you a copy of the deed. This will show a purchase price for the property. After you have the folio, you can ring the Land Registry to ask how to take up the relevant copy instrument.
