Winding up maybe but the law the goverment are trying to bring in is to do exactly this, take from you when you don't pay your bills/TV license.

This goverment have no shame, neck on neck now with the last crowd. The last crowd broke the country, this a lot have broken society and ran the place into the ground.

They'll take it from salary/welfare. Which is a very good plan imo, rather than the costly job of dragging people to court.

Y'see. That's the thing. I don't feel railroaded at all. I've no problem paying for what I use.

The hysterics of the can't be arsed paying their bills side negates any valid arguments they ever had.

In cases of possession and repossession I'd be calling Ghostbusters tbh

But, seriously, I can see them having non payment of water bills affecting credit ratings and the like, any excuse to force non compliant citizens into compliance.
Just to say I'm paying the bill but I respect those whose choose not to.

I suspect it's more the 'never had a bill with their name on it that wasn't a Sky TV package' effect...

There's a cohort of people here that have never been asked to pay for anything. They don't like it.

I read about this. It is people who parked their second cars over the spot where IW wanted to put the meter. They are going round towing them away.

You are a bit of a fool then if that's your approach aren't you. I've got no problem paying for electricity, gas, etc. I even have no problem paying my water bill on my property in another country. You should however have a problem with a private company coming along, declaring they own Ireland's water and then demanding you pay them for it.
That's where you're the sucker. It's a hell of a lot easier to con someone than to convince them they've been conned.

All one has to do it make up some reason why you should part with your money and rather die than admit it's a scam that you originally went along with.

I was talking to a friend of mine and he also got a call after from Irish Water, he has a motorbike and they threatened to take that if he doesn't pay, I am very worried as I need my car for work.

No. We don't. Nor anywhere near the level required to upgrade and maintain a 21st century water infrastructure. : http://economic-incentives.blogspot.ie/2015/03/paying-twice-for-water-not-really.html?m=1

As for you OP, the Wallet Inspector will be along for a word with you presently.

So I was out last night and I met this chap from Irish Water at the bar, he said if I didn't buy a beer he would kick the fook outta me. This has gone too far !

This reads like a 4 year old trying to explain the situation.

The only way you could dumb it down more would be "splash splash, pay pay"

Then pay your dam bills. The amount of entitlement people in this country have is shocking. Water is not free. TV is not a right or entitlement.

Is basic budgeting something that is beyond people? If you can't afford things you cut back to have what you need, not what you want.

I'm glad they are going to stop putting people into court and take it at source. Best way to catch dodgers. Wish they'd move the road tax into the cost of petrol too.

I do understand reservations about the TV licence and Irish Water as an organisation, but the weird thing of getting annoyed by bills... I don't get. It's a service you use and agree to pay for. Same with buying food or clothing. Yet people have longer to pay for bills but act more indignant about it. If you can't pay on time, fair enough, let the company know as soon as possible that you need an extension, but complaining about bills in and of themselves...?

Also, what is it, apart from cleaning up the mess left by the gangsters before, that's so evil about the current government? It's a genuine question. I'm not exactly loving them (never voted for FG, have voted for Labour) but the intense venom and raaaaaaage, and the silly comparison of a rather bland, insipid Mayo man to a dictator... can someone explain what this is about? Their blueshirt history is hardly relevant now - not seeing much fascism coming from them like.

I heard on the grapevine that some renegade Irish water workers are going around threatening people with hedge clippers that dont pay.
