Any help or advice much appreciated. I received a letter yesterday stating my job seekers benefit would end in 'the coming weeks' and that I would have to apply for job seekers allowance. Just finding it hard to find any information on how they perform the means test and stressed out as I am over 6 months pregnant.

I live with my husband who earns roughly 460 per week as take home pay, we have no savings and basically live week to week with the help of overdrafts! We have a car loan of 60 euro a week and We also pay nearly 800 euro a month for our mortgage however found out they don't take that into account? Just wondering the likely hood of receiving anything on job seekers allowance?

You will probably get around €72 JSA. You must adhere to all the conditions for JSA. When baby is here you will get €135 Child Benefit.

JSA is calculated on his gross earnings less PRSI, union dues and any AVCs paid. From this figure deduct €60 and then 60% of this remaining figure will be the means assessed against your JSA claim. Deduct the means from €312.80 which is your personal rate plus an adult dependant and this will give you what you will receive for JSA. When baby arrives you will receive a further €29.80 on your JSA for a child dependant.
