    Hi,

Spread cut sward last monday, 3.5 bags/acre. had 1/3 of an 8 acre field done and heavy(not promised!) shower arrived. had to give up after this so its to be finished this wend is weather suits.

should this area be spread agian or what will the losses to rain have been. maybe cover again at 50% rate?? after shower, i coulnt see the grains on the ground..

i could leave it as a control test and be able let ye know in 7 weeks time but i dont think my cows will thank me next feb!!

    cheers.

Imo, alot of people worryabout rain after spreading whereas the conditions before are nearly more important, if the ground is dry the fert will soak in and even if there is heavy rain after but if the ground is wet already the fert will run off.last year I put out fert at the end of a dry spell and it made a flood, I was full sure it was gone but I got a savage response from it.

Unless a 90 deg slope on field and ground conditions were right at spreading, nothing to worry about

You will only loose fert through surface water runoff, did you see water running along the surface? Hopefully we will get a query next week about it being too dry for fert.
