    Hey,

So was back in Ireland for 6 months and when I got here I forgot how long it takes to get ADSL Installed ... KN Networks, Eircom, Magnet, anyways that's another story :)

I have UPC in the Netherlands and use UPC Wifispots, here is called Horizon Wi-Free

In any case I realised its possible to use my Dutch UPC Wifispots account in other countries so wanted a way of getting some Wifi in the house in the meantime.

    I got a cheap router:
TL-WR710N - Picked it up in PcWorld for 20 euros

    Flashed it with SuperWRT

I had an old Samsung Galaxy Fame lying around the place, I installed the UPC Wifispots app (The Horizon Wi-free app also does the same)

This takes care of installing all the relevant certificates for WPA-Enterprise.

Find somewhere in the house where the Neighbors Horizon box signal is strongest and join it to the Horizon Wi-Free network.

Now plug it into the router with a USB Cable and enable USB tethering.

Tethering via USB while joined to Wifi also allows you to use Wi-fi and not just 3G/4G :)

All the kernel modules are included so you just need to setup tethering in SuperWRT.

Add a Device on WAN2 with DHCP, it should be set to USB0 in the Physical settings.

End result is you get a 2.5 mb down .5mb up connection in your house using your Horizon Wi-free account tethered via your phone, the router will keep the phone charged and you'll have Wifi on all your devices wherever you are staying.

This is also useful for pay Wifi or Wifi with a login voucher (e.g. Hotels) so you can use a Chromecast on your hotel TV, tether your phone to the Hotel wifi, use the same process and sign in on your laptop, your Chromecast will join the network and you can use it away :)
