Who told you about the bad paint? Did you buy the car new?

If you don't have the car from new it could be sprayed 10 times over for all you know. Often bad resprays from when a car is damaged can start to peel and cause problems. Obviously hyundai only stand over the factory paint but even if it's original your going to struggle getting anything from them considering its a 2006 not sure if it's an 8 or 10 year warranty they give on the paint but I think that's more for covering corrosion than anything else.

We had a 00 red Astra once. The paint on the bonnet faded quite a lot over the years. I thought nothing of it until I saw another 00 red Astra with the almost identical problem.

Red in particular is a colour that will fade over time if the paint is not maintained, the paint begins to oxidise. It's possible to bring it back to an extent though with some hard graft

9 years old and you think Hyundai will do something about it?

If the paint has been clearcoated and the fading is to the paint all the elbow grease won't bring the car back to the lovely red it once was, unless you go through the clear coat.
No clear coat, then happy days, quick polish and its back.

Most likely no clear coat, Reds with Opel/Vaux never had clearcoat for what ever reason up to recent models. Got a mates red Vectra with same thing.

Good polish with a DA it be back to nice shiney red.
